Re: Long-term apartment rental, payment by job center

Here' a link to a table especially for Landkreis Munich, depending on the area of Munich: https://www.landkreis-muenchen.de/themen/arbeit-gewerbe-jobcenter/jobcenter/mietobergrenzen-fuer-empfaenger-von-buergergeld-und-leistungen-nach-dem-sgb-xii/ The table shows the respective Kaltmiete. Re: Long-term apartment rental, payment by job center

May I ask what the maximum warm rent is that you can pay? I'm asking because I am currently helping a friend search for a flat who is relocating here and I can also keep my eyes open for you. Thank you very much for your answer on the forum. You asked me what hot price I am willing to pay for an ap...

Re: damage to rental property by guests

That sounds horrendous and I do hope you get to move somewhere lovely much sooner than the 2 years... I hope so too. I'm on the waiting list for a flat in the Service-Wohnung compound (managed apartment for the elderly) right next door to the old peoples home, which is only a few minutes from where...

Re: damage to rental property by guests

I wish liability insurance was legally compulsory. It doesn't cost all that much and saves a lot of hassle. My neigbour upstairs caused a water damage in my flat, which amounted to ca. 1300 Euros, and lied that he was insured and also lied that he had reported the incidence to his insurance company....

Re: Getting keys cut

The local key smiths wouldn't do it, but I found an online service, which kopied the original key and sent it back with the spares pretty quick. It's legal. Of course, it's pretty tricky for you if you've only got the one key, with which you would have to part with for a couple of days. Here's a fi...

Re: Getting keys cut

I would like to get a spare set of keys made as a precaution to losing the originals. I live in a block of flats so there are 2 keys. One for the communal door and one for my own door. I got my own door key cut without any problem, but the communal key is proving more difficult. The mann said somet...

Re: Why are you unhappy today?

Yesterday evening my daughter's dog went over the rainbow bridge at 13 1/2 years old after suffering with stomach ulcers the past couple of months. He is now united with his best friend Joker (my dog), who passed away 2 years ago. I had daycared him for all that time. He will be sorely missed. RIP R...

Public transport? That's what I rely on. I wouldn't feel safe driving or riding anything with failing eyesight.

Re: Gardening

No garden here, just a large patio with a fair amount of potted plants and I'm having the same problem with snails this year. Probably because of all the rain the past months. I've even found some in the bird house when I check it in the mornings. Snails eat anything and everything - even shit. We'v...

Re: clothes that fit for high or mighty people

We have the problem at the opposite end of the spectrum. My wife, same as many other Japanese, is very small by Caucasian standard. She buys clothes and shoes only when she visits Japan, not often, she keeps saying her sizes cannot be found here. I still don't get it, after all she's not smaller th...

Re: The Conviction of Donald J. Trump

I wonder what future historians are going to make of all this - depending on whether freedom of speech is then still allowed. I won't be around (10-15 years from now) to witness any of it at my age (I'm 77, born 1947, 2 years after WW2 finished). Maybe that's a good thing (for me) considering all th...

Re: How did you learn German?

A native speaker of two languages, are they really equal, of does one have a tiny "Vorsprung"? For me they are equal. I still speak English with a slight Welsh lilt and German with a slight Rheinish lilt and shift effortlessly between the two - which has been a great advantage during my w...

Re: How did you learn German?

However, I'll also be speaking German here and suddenly will only remember the Dutch word for what I want to say. This isn't at all unusual with speakers of two or more languages. I have been a native speaker of English and German since childhood and this also happens to me occasionally. I'll sudde...

I just saw this and it brought tears to my eyes. I've watched quite a few K9 videos lately. These precious dogs are so much appreciated by the police force. K9 Enzo did what he was trained to do. Go to the threat and protect our officers. In the process, a violent suspect stabbed Enzo. Here's what y...

ER waiting times are getting as long as in the US. I recently tripped and broke my wrist. Eight hours later, I had an X-ray and a cast *sigh*. There have been several reports on TV that ERs are hindered by people turning up with minor ailments that are not emergencies at all, therefore holding up t...

Oh dear. Shocked to hear we nearly lost him. Great to hear he's survived and is still his silly self. Will have to call him Wonder Boy from now on. Best wishes, John, and Gute Besserung. Hope to see you posting here soon.
