Re: Patio roof and "Abstandflächen übernommen"
As far as I understand it, Abstandsflächen by DHH is a bit different. I mean, the houses are joined together on the boundary line so the 3m Abstand isn't present there either. Plenty of RMH have Terrassenüberdachungen, which span the full width of the house so they also are not conforming to a theor...

Re: Current computer prices, especially memory and GPU-chips
Yes, I was horrified a couple of weeks ago when checking the prices of RAM. I needed 3 new mini-PCs for 3D rendering duty and a 64GB kit was something like €650 compared to €150 last year. I ended up cannibalising other PCs and laptops to spread out the RAM and bring them up to a bare minimu...

Re: What do you think about Iran conflict?
Eric is normally on the money with most subjects! ***hero*** Orban is just looking out for the interests of Hungary, which is exactly what he should be doing. Do you suggest that he blindly support Ukraine when they have sabotaged and are currently actively blocking oil & gas supplies (from Russ...

Re: What do you think about Iran conflict?
Interesting back and forth. Which is cool. Verbal discourse is the whole basis of politics. But, I understand nothing, except the fact that Donald Trump is a malignant narcissist with a cat on his head. YMMV. It would have been better without the snidey implications (I apparently support VVP, KJU &...

Re: What do you think about Iran conflict?
Macron! I think the French people would disagree with you. Out of all the EU leaders, 'Little Napoleon' is widely accepted as being the most 'globalist' and out of touch with what the french actually feel is good for France. *****deleted - felt a bit patronising***** Anyway, I don't thin...

Re: What do you think about Iran conflict?
You managed to not answer my question(s) while at the same time making some snidey, not so subtle implications. Well done! At some point, the interests of a sovereign country have to be put before outside interests. Yes, allies should be supported (when it suits*, sorry Don :D) but not when it cause...

Re: What do you think about Iran conflict?
More escalation... The Iranian oil and gas infrastructure at the South Pars and Assaluyeh fields was subjected to attacks by the US and Israel. Fars News Agency (Iran), citing a military source: "We will strike the enemy's infrastructure after their targeting of the Assaluyeh gas field." T...

Re: What do you think about Iran conflict?
It made me annoyed, frustrated, and embarrassed. I didn’t laugh, but of course I’ve got a different passport than you do I believe. 😀 My passports(!) aren't much less embarrassing. It's hard to think of a western leader that hasn't made a complete mess of everything, with the noteable exceptions of...

Re: How to handle payment issue on taxes
There's a good chance that Panda will correct me, but... ...as a freelancer, the date of payment is relevant so the full amount paid would be declared in 2025. You should have 2 invoices though IMO. One for the full amount and one for the reduced amount initially paid. Or if they were paid with the ...

Re: What do you think about Iran conflict?
The orange baby has really backed himself into a corner this time. He was fed a fantasy about Iran collapsing after the first strikes and that was never going to be the case. Now he's faced with: 1. No realisitic path to a military victory (unless the nutter goes nuclear). 2. No off-ramp or options ...

Re: What do you think about Iran conflict?
Nothing good will come of this. Iranians are massing in the streets, chanting, 'Death to America and Israel!' There will be no regime change and without a large number of troops on the ground, there never could be. Iran has supposedly been 'two weeks away from getting nukes for at least the last 30 ...

I've been listening to a lot of 90's stuff recently.

Re: National Insurance Class 3 contributions and German tax
I paid a substantial chunk last April (approx. €12k) but haven't recieved a letter confirming payment yet. The years paid do show up in my pension forecast but I have nothing official to pass on to the Finanzant. Is this going to be a problem? :? Do you have some documentation of the payment? I use...

Re: National Insurance Class 3 contributions and German tax
You won't get a schedule of the NI paid unless you ask for one. We used the HMRC Digital Assistant (chat) to talk to the NI team (just keep typing "adviser" or "agent" to get past the bot) and ask for a letter detailing the payment(s). I can't remember how long it took to arrive...
