Re: bringing power tools to DE from US
At lease a US drill will rotate the same way as German ones. Unlike the British one I brought over.

Re: TWAS the night before Wiesn
It's the night before the Wiesn starts again. And I added a verse to my Wiesn version of the 19th Century Christmas poem: TWAS the night before Wiesn , when all through the Stadt Nothing was stirring, not even a cat. The rides are all ready, and so are the tents All surrounded by, a great big high f...

Re: My Photovoltaikanlage
I think "PV prices have dropped soooo much in the last blabla years" is simply not true. Possibly just some fake news from the PV industry to make more profit. I think that comes from when the wholesale price dropped dramatically last year(ish?), as several new Chinese factories started p...

Re: avoiding the middle of the day
Many who live on the shady side of the block haven't noticed how hot things are getting these days. The rest know too well. Our last place was an oven. So we now picked somewhere in the shade. But the immobilien people are still pushing bright and sunny places. I have a quiet, variable speed fan poi...

Re: Friday Beergarden Meetup 2.May Löwenbräukeller (Munich)
We had close to 40 people there on Friday, including a few newbies from Meetup.com. So a happy night. Let's hope the next Friday weather is nice too.

Re: House renovation experience/Förderungen (grants)
I'm not getting under floor heating installed. It's nice to have, and very efficient. But not at all necessary. Really old radiators are not very efficient though. And worth getting modern efficient ones. Some installers want 10k or more for the whole house. But I'm paying ~3.5k to replace all the o...

Re: House renovation experience/Förderungen (grants)
Yes. There might not be any need to do much. In my case I'm trying to keep my monthly bills down. Heating being the biggest. Regarding heat pumps, you can look at the cost of installation and calculate how long it would take to pay back. For some people it's not worth it. I'm getting solar panels to...

Re: Home Printer
Never had a problem with our almost 10 year old laser printer "clogging up" and we only use it about once a month or less. I print regularly. Once a year. The good old laser just keeps going. On a 10 year old toner cartridge too. It's also worth keeping your printer and scanner separate. ...

Re: House renovation experience/Förderungen (grants)
Does anyone have any experience of renovating a house and available energy efficiency grants? I'm getting grants for upgrades to the old house I just bought. But for selling, as they are saying, might not be worth upgrading. It can get crazy expensive. With the grants subtracted, you'll pay, Heat p...

TWAS the night before Wiesn
TWAS the night before Wiesn, when all through the Stadt Nothing was stirring, not even a cat. The rides are all ready, and so are the tents All surrounded by, a great big high fence Then all of a sudden, the drunks all appeared And that's when things, started to get really weird The noise and the s...
