Re: Can British citizens travel to the UK using a non-British passport?
This is new so it will no doubt be a bit chaotic to begin with. Some people think the guidance is clear but I see it as being open to interpretation due to the wording of the article, which is a problem. The website mentions: "Travelling on or after 25 February 2026 You may not be able to board...

Re: Can British citizens travel to the UK using a non-British passport?
Well the FB article makes it much clearer. I'm not too sure why the GOV.UK article didn't mention this. But since the certificate of entitlement costs £589 (https://www.gov.uk/right-of-abode/apply-for-a-certificate-of-entitlement) I think I will wait and see what happens. My UK passport expires in 3...

Re: Can British citizens travel to the UK using a non-British passport?
Interesting but the way you have worded it suggests that British citizens with dual nationality won't be able to travel to the UK without a UK passport, which isn't true. You seem to have missed out the following on the https://www.gov.uk/guidance/electronic-travel-authorisation-eta-guide-for-dual-c...

Re: Ryanair goes totally digital. No paper bording passes.
I find that a bit harsh. I would not like all shops to go self checkout (mainly because all the crap happening like getting checked after you have gone through process, getting accused of theft, etc). Ditto shops that only take cards. Not keen. Sure, offer a discount to people using cards, etc. Car...

Re: Ryanair goes totally digital. No paper bording passes.
It's not about me not having any sympathy with CC but the fact that he has stated several times on this, and the old TT, that he refuses to get a smartphone and will never get one. I have a lot of sympathy for older people who don't understand new tech but when CC refuses to even consider getting a ...

You seem to be constantly looking for these type of issues where things can only be done online and then raise the question as to whether it's age discrimination, which isn't the case. Age discrimination means that you are discriminated due to your age i.e. generally being very young or old but it i...

A quick question on this - the link that Panda posted mentions: Ich arbeite in Teilzeit oder in Vollzeit Sie verdienen monatlich mehr als 556 EUR? Dann werden Sie als Arbeitnehmerin oder Arbeitnehmer versicherungspflichtig. Für Ihr Gehalt fallen Beiträge zur Kranken- und Pflegeversicherung an, die I...

Re: Live music gigs
FYI - If you want to check out the songs an artist/band is likely to play before the concert have a look at https://www.setlist.fm/ Most artists/bands play the practically the same set list for the gigs of a particular tour. Morrissey is the same with only 1 or 2 song differences for each concert - ...

Re: YouTube Premium
I've not tried it myself but I have heard of people using a VPN to connect to a 3rd country (i.e. Romania) and then buying YouTube Premium from that country as it's cheaper than buying it from their own country. There are some sites online regarding this (i.e. https://www.vpn-tools.com/youtube-cheap...

Re: Live music gigs
Good to hear you didn't pay for the tickets. I didn't realise Bruce Dickinson was pro-Brexit but he doesn't mention anything political in his concerts (or not the two I have seen him play) so it's not an issue for me. You do get some band leaders who take the opportunity of a concert to voice their ...

Re: Live music gigs
I wouldn't call ACDC a tribute band. Brian Johnson may not be an original member but he has been there for 45 years now and is the original singer of a lot of their music so it's not like they only play the Bon Scott songs. Now, when Axl Rose sang with ACDC that could be called a tribute band :) FYI...

Re: Live music gigs
I saw Rammstein last year in Frankfurt and they were excellent. I would have liked to see ACDC last year but at €150 it was too expensive as far as I am concerned and the concert in Dusseldorf this year is even more expensive at €165 for a ticket  Iron Maiden and Scorpions for me in July. I'v...

Re: German election February 2025
I think people like this see themselves as being different than the minorities/immigrants that are in the news for causing trouble, claiming benefits, etc. because they have lived here for a long time, pay taxes, etc. or whatever reason it happens to be. They think all of the comments about immigran...

Sounds very dodgy and possibly on the edge of what could be construed as legal (hetzerei?). I have a feeling this election run up is going to get nasty in DE. I've not missed being in the UK for the last few elections but we could have similar behaviour in Germany over the next 6 weeks or so.
