Re: becoming a UK non resident for tax matters

It's not about where you pay the tax (e.g. to HMRC for UK rental income) it's about having to declare your worldwide income. Double taxation agreements will mean you don't get taxed twice but you still have to declare it in Germany

Re: becoming a UK non resident for tax matters

" I have been living in Berlin... " sounds like you should have already declared your tax residency status in Germany. If you're not here as a tourist then you have to along with visa/residency permit. When I moved from the UK it was easy, I contacted HMRC before moving, filled in a form (...

Popular in Germany too: https://www.etfstream.com/articles/the-rise-of-etf-savings-plans Do they (e.g. Scalable Capital) take out the German withholding tax and sort all that out for investors? I know they have to provide an annual statement which I guess must be declared with your tax return. I'm j...

Re: What are you cooking today?

Veggie Sausages! Herecy in Germany I know but I'm veggie and after months of trying various brands I have finally found one from Aldi that is bearable. All the usual expensive meat substitute ones from Rewe, Lidl and the like are not so good. https://www.aldi-sued.de/de/p.mein-veggie-tag-veggie-wurs...

Re: Work harassment

Sorry to hear about your situation, that sucks. My own recommendation on top of the other suggestions here is to get legal insurance if you don't have it already. If you have 'issues' with an employer and want to threat or actually take them to court lawyers can get expensive. There isn't a 'no win ...

Re: Experience writing a Will in Germany

Also the executor or trustee of an estate, as envisioned in Anglo-American law, is basically unk...

I seem to be the odd one out here :D Apps: On Duolingo I'm up to a 1812 day streak ... that's over 4 years! It's great to dip in to but it does have some strange sentences and for some reason horses and cucumbers come up in sentences a lot [not together] I recently bought Babbel as a 6 mon...
