Re: should i register in Germany again?
A person who leaves Germany to live abroad is required to deregister accordingly. Only a few exceptions from the duty to deregister are stipulated in the respective Registration Acts (“Meldegesetze”). Please consult your local authority in order to discuss whether an exception applies to you. From: ...

At least he crashed his murder van, hopefully containing a mountain of evidence, dna etc. I felt so sad. My son and a couple of friends were at the parade earlier in the day but didn't stay on because it was too hot.

Removal company Germany to Ireland
Our house here is on the market and it's time to get some preliminary removal quotes. We'll be moving to SE Ireland from here, approx 60km south of Berlin. It's a full house move, so not your man with a van type of move. We'll probably have to build in storage time here while waiting for a house pur...

Re: What are you watching right now?
Just tonight I discovered the Krimi series „Ein starkes Team“ on ZDF. Hooked! :D If you're a Krimi fan you can go to the ZDF Mediathek and search eg under Inspector/Kommissar/Donna Leon, Ostfriesian, etc. Loads of series come up. You can binge on endless episodes of Barnaby (Midsomer Murders) durin...

Re: What made you smile today? :)
I’m still clearing my mum’s house after she died. This made me smile today that she’d kept the toilet roll holder with toilet roll over 30 years after she’d had the outbuilding toilet removed. Looks like modern art! Feel like it needs a caption! My Oma told me that before WW2, this was the only toi...

My mum in her innocence used to call it the 'odds and sods' drawer until she was rebuked by her then boss. The name carries on in my household.

To qualify for the junk drawer items must be: Of unknown origin. Keys from past houses/suitcases/bike locks make good starting points Belong to now defunct appliances. Or houses that you lived in 20 years ago Of unknown usage but might come in useful one day Items that OH has been saying for at leas...

Re: German word of the day
I know, but I wrote it as they did in the article! Found that a tad surprising actually. They also didn’t capitalize the h in Handtuchkriege. 😱 I was mostly amused since I don’t recall hearing those terms and I think they’re cute. 😁 The Guardian's nickname is the Grauniad, known for it's frequent t...

Re: autopayment of bank credit card
I've also had Advanzia for a long time, and I try to pre book the payment as soon as the balance is sent, from my Sparkasse account. On the odd occasions I have forgotten, they send an email reminder very quickly, which I pay pronto, and have never been charged interest.

Brexit Residence Permit Renewal
OH was checking his Aufenthalts card yesterday, which was issued under the withdrawal agreement with GB to people resident before the final withdrawal date. His expires at the end of this April. Re: Can British citizens travel to the UK using a non-British passport?
Sorry but that doesn't make sense. If you are a British and EU citizen, then settled status is of no relevance and why, if you are UK resident would you not have a UK passport as a dual citizen? If correct it seems somewhat niche! That's the problem with these changes, everything is now niche and y...

Re: What Made You Laugh Today
That reminded me of the lovely children's story poems by Lynley Dodd. The dog character is Hairy Maclary with a variety of aptly named pals such as Schnitzel von Krumm with a very low tum, and a very characterful cat called Slinky Malinky.
