Re: Verwenden von Kennzeichen verfassungswidriger und terroristischer Organisationen

Just as an aside: Be very careful when you make 420 jokes, like "I think everything that has to do with 420 is cool", because Hitler's birthday was April 20th. This can quickly lead to misunderstandings. 420 is a significant date in cannabis culture . Have you seen any references to this ...

Re: sun screen for 3x2 south west facing window

Not if installed properly and rolled in for high winds. You could always attach a line to it and fix it to your balcony if you're worried about that. Yes that is a good solution. I'd invite you around to have a look but you don't have your location in your profile. Are you around Munich? Yes, if yo...

Re: sun screen for 3x2 south west facing window

OK. I've managed a photo. Himself recently mounted some nice side shades for privacy and to block sun when it comes around. thumbnail_20240514_201609.jpg Yes this has the benefit that use of the balcony can continue while the sun is shining. Is there any concern the shade may loosen and end up on t...

An interesting option I hadn't considered. I'm on the 6th floor and the balcony had a ceiling. Perhaps it's something I'll need permission from the Hausverwaltung, but certainly an option.

sun screen for 3x2 south west facing window

I recently moved in to an apartment which has a large south west facing window/patio door. I'm searching for a solution that will block the sun and also heat. Ideally the windows would have an external shutter fitter, however as I am only renting this isn't an option. Are there similar products that...

Telekom visit on Monday: access to property hardware

Telekom will be visiting on Monday to connect my internet. I have found the following hardware in the basement of the apartment building.

Does anyone know if the Telekom technician is likely to have the appropriate keys to open these boxes?

Re: Money-saving tipps

I try to tank my car as little as possible: this year I aim at filling max 5 times. "Not filling" is greener and cheaper than "not filling in the motorway, rather fill somewhere else". Ohhhh this is fun. Let me try: How many children do you have, Alberto? I have none. Which is g...

Not filling up your vehicle with petrol at an Autobahn services. Only after the tank was full did I see the price for Super E10 was over 2.30 €. The price in Berlin was 1.85 €. I made that same mistake last week, and actually compounded the error by accidentally choosing "ultimate" diesel...

Re: Sick note after a vasectomy

I drove from North West Germany to Berlin and stayed overnight so I could get a vasectomy at my preferred doctor's office. After the vasectomy, I drove 6 hours back home, stopping once for a coffee and brief walk. I had a cooler bag filled with frozen compress that I regularly used on my truffles (a...

3 big things happened today:

I got my vasectomy, which I can compare to having a filling done at the dentist.

I got my B1 German result: sehr gut, 90%

I received the Kaufvertrag for the house I'm selling

Now it's time to recover with ice and a Curb your enthusiasm marathon.

After all, perhaps their parents or elder brothers DRIVE to the gym. You know, for fitness....
Should they walk instead? Perhaps after school they have to cycle a long distance for after school activities.

Okay my landlord told me it is protection for children and said I can pry it out with a screwdriver, which worked. Of course I turned off all the fuses first.

Why has this been placed in my socket, and is it safe to remove?

My washing machine socket has a small white cap inside that is preventing me plugging in my washing machine. It's in the bathroom so perhaps it is there to protect against moisture?

Has anyone seen one before?

lets' not forget that electric vs burning fossil is only one part of the whole thing. Sometimes you get electric through fossil too. I lived in a city at one point where the majority of their power was coming from coal. Isn't having everything run on electric the goal? Electricity can be generated ...
