Re: Eigenbedarf

Is Eigenbedarf allowed for a family member of the owner? I thought it was only possible if the owners wanted personal use of the property.

Re: Where to get glare reducing sunglasses in Berlin

What is going on here? The number of views is insanely high. It is nearly 50,000. How can such an ordinary post attract so much attention? Especially when there are many more interesting posts to be viewed. Am I being digitally stalked? Where does it show "nearly 50,000"? Please send me a...

Do you have an Ethernet cable? If so, turn the Wi-Fi off on your computer and plug the computer in to the Fritzbox using the Ethernet cable and do another speed test. If it improves, perhaps the issue is with the Fritzbox's Wi-Fi.

Re: Including English working years in German pension insurance

Have fun working through the maths - does your head in - but it means for you that the amount of pension does not change under the EU aggregation calculation, other than the fact that if you needed 35 years, you would qualify under that but not necessarily using your domestic record. Thanks. It's l...

Re: Including English working years in German pension insurance

So the pages that follow - do they give your the 2 calculations "innerstaatliche" and "zwischenstaatliche"? If so, at the moment they can only be based on normal pension age with 5 years minimum. Do they show the same amount? Yes there is an Innerstaatlichen Berechnung and a Zwi...

Re: Including English working years in German pension insurance

I am not sure what that schedule actually is because there is a difference between your actual German record and your aggregated record used to do the zwischenstaatliche Berechnung. I cannot log into the system and, of course, already have my pension but everything I ever received had a list of tha...

Thanks. I was also allowed to retain my British citizenship. Considering the next government may attempt to reverse the new nationality laws, I've potentially been very lucky to fall within a short window where dual citizenship is possible.

Today I became a German citizen, regained my EU citizenship, and was also allowed to vote in the German Federal Election after presenting the Wahlamt with my Einbürgerungsurkunde.

After 9 months, my citizenship application has been approved and I can pick up my certificate in February. I'll be an EU citizen again!

Unfortunately it won't be in time to vote in the upcoming election.

Re: Winter Tires (in Winter) new regulations from October 2024

Nothing to do with tyres here, but I was wondering if anybody has a tip for me to help stop the windscreen of my car from getting covered in condensation? You want to reduce the amount of moisture in the air of your cabin. When you start a new journey, turn on the engine and set your air conditione...

Has the electrician provided you with a Prüfprotokolle?

Ask for a detailed invoice with line items; they should be able to provide this (how else would they know the total?).

Re: Early retirement in Germany based on EU contribution history

Thank you. Would transaction receipts downloaded from my bank be sufficient? In a pinch yes, since they will show HRMC as the recipient and "NI" as the subject of the transfer. But it would be better to get a letter issued by HMRC attesting to these NI contributions. OK I'll try with the ...

Re: Selling house through Makler…..what to expect

I don’t know selling legalities so need a good Makler. I wouldn't trust the Makler to know these either. That's what the Notar is for. I sold this year using a Makler. I received valuations from 4 that included detailed reports of the property and market, information about commission, sale prospect...
