Re: Recommendations regarding inherentance legalities

I realized now that when my mother in law passed away ca 2yr ago, and my wife inherited half of her small apartment (which is in Japan), we did not inform the FA.I understand we should have done it at the time, and not having done it then we must do it now. Question: how to know the value of said a...

I've reported you to the Texas Rangers. Yes, the baseball team.

Re: Living in Berlin without a drivers license

Sorry I had no idea. But taking a more difficult test in a different state being illegal is kind of funny! The other way round I get. x I also looked this up, but they wouldn't need to take a test in a different state to receive a driver's licence for that state; they would have to move to that sta...

Edeka-adjacent.jpg Is the packaging too big or is the filet too small? If the packaging was smaller, would you have still bought it, or would you have considered it too expensive for that amount of filet? Will this deception prevent you buying it in the future? Will you instead look for a 125g file...

Re: stolen/lost license plate

Oops, while applying for an emissions sticker at https://www.tuev-nord.de, I sent them a copy of my Fahrzeugbrief instead of my Fahrzeugschein. I should probably apply for a new Fahrzeugbrief now. Why? Because the Fahrzeugbrief can be used to register a vehicle and should never be shared wit...

Re: stolen/lost license plate

Fortunately no eVB was required. They also didn't ask to see the TÜV certificate. Perhaps they have that information in their system. My insurer was also automatically notified.

Re: stolen/lost license plate

I have everything except the insurance document; the municipality doesn't list that on their website as a requirement. Is that called the eVB number? I have an appointment today so I'll find out soon if they also require that. I assumed the municipality would automatically notify the insurer about t...

stolen/lost license plate

On Sunday I saw my car was missing a licence plate. Assumed stolen. Reported to the police station and received a Bescheinigung. I've reserved a new licence plate number via the municipality website and ordered the physical plates via an online website, however the plates won't arrive until Thursday...

Re: Looking for a law firm that can certify a bank statement

I have tried to certify by the police, many times, sometimes it works, most times it does not, as they are longer required to this. It just depends if the police station you ask knows the rules or not or how friendly they want to be. I got my documents certified by a TAX accountant in the end, for ...

Accepting cash when selling a car.

I would like to sell my car and a friend wants to buy with majority bank transfer and partially cash (2k). We will complete a sales contract with this information.

Any cause for concern or is this an acceptable form of payment?

Re: Rant about unbelievable software insufficiencies

I don't think the system keyboard has permission to read through your WhatsApp chat (or anything else on your screen) to determine the preferred language. Your keyboard settings should have the option to add multiple languages which you can then toggle between using a button next to the spacebar or ...

Re: Problems in Supermarkets in Germany

My trick: every 4th or 5th item on the conveyor should be something the cashier has to weigh. It works so well that I'm often waiting for the cashier to continue scanning items. I wonder if you folks even know that staff in certain stores get a written warning if they are "too slow" on th...

Re: Problems in Supermarkets in Germany

It’s very different to the UK supermarkets where the cashiers helped pack and didn’t start with the next customer until all sorted. It can be awful for elderly customers to be so rushed. My trick not to be rushed, at the Discounter, when I buy much, is to split my items in two. As if it was TWO dif...
