Re: dual US and German SIMS

It looks like that it is 13GB per month now. I kept my T-Mobile number and have a German Telekom prepaid card that works in the EU and 🇨🇭(a must since I live on the border). I’m quite happy with it. Rather than paying 10€ a month I just pay 99€ in advance once a year. I text using WhatsApp. The Tele...

Sometimes a single punch can be enough. Head hitting a curb or something like that.

Swapping a mortgage?

We are paying a mortgage for an apartment in which we live in Munich. Now there is an idea to upgrade and buy a townhouse, again with a mortgage being involved. I've heard, but I am not sure of details so I am asking here, if it would be possible to put current mortgage into another one in order to ...

Re: Actual costs for home office?

Thank you Panda. To be honest, I am not sure what I am. I don't think that I am a freelancer, GmbH or something like that. I am being paid by a US company (London office/entity). They are paying an accounting company in Berlin to do my pay calculation and they automatically pay my social contributio...

Re: New private pension scheme is coming

As I understand you, you get either a 30% match from the Government OR you get a tax reduction on those EUR1800? I am pretty sure our income after we stop doing what I am doing now will be way lower than now, so I would currently put into a plan that reduces taxes as much as I can. Especially since ...

Is this pretax money?
Can more be invested after initial 1800 EUR, with no Government matching but as pre-taxed money from income?

Thanks,

Re: Irish "Approved Retirement Fund" taxation

Well what's being talked about is a helluva lot better than the Riester with its shitty returns and high costs. It looks like we may finally be able to invest in low cost ETFs in tax sheltered manner. At the moment we are saving for our retirement using ETFs in a non-tax sheltered way because even ...

Actual costs for home office?

Hello all, What are the costs that can be added to the calculation of the Home office expenses for the year of 2024? I have these: Home Depreciation: 2% of the (Home purchase price + Notar costs + Real estate transfer tax) - 50% (Land value) That would be: Absetzung für Abnutzung. After that I would...

Overall we are very satisfied. - Started with Test Buhl Wiso steuer version which is free to see how it goes. Printing the documents and filing are options that are not available in the test version, other stuff works like in a paid one. You can use software on your computer (pages couldn't be trans...

Re: Leaving Germany in the first half of the year

You can call it what you want.
It is a tax if I have to send more money to the Government due to something being applied in the calculation.
